Hiring without risk

Hire your Arizona wedding photo and video team without living here

Arizona wedding photographer for out-of-state couples

Yes, you can book your Arizona wedding photography and video without flying in first: you review and sign the contract on your phone, and a $500 deposit holds your date. The one thing that does need you here is the marriage license: in Maricopa County, the online program is for Arizona residents only, so couples who live elsewhere apply in person.

This guide walks you through booking from a distance, the marriage license basics from the Maricopa County Clerk of the Superior Court, how crew travel is priced, and what to do if your wedding is in a city outside our network. It is general information, not legal advice.

How to book your Arizona wedding photo and video from far away

  1. Check your date with the team in your city

Pick your wedding city with the buttons below, or text (602) 753-7969. We reply within 24 to 48 hours with availability. If your city isn't listed, choose "Other Arizona city."

  2. Choose the package that fits your hours

Send us your ceremony time and reception venue, and we'll tell you how many hours you need. To work it out yourself first, read how many hours of wedding photo and video you need.

  3. Review and sign the contract on your phone

The contract comes to your phone and you sign it right there, with no printing and no office visit.

  4. Pay the $500 deposit to hold your date

Signing and paying the deposit are two separate steps. The deposit holds the date for you alone and counts toward your total.

  5. Pay the balance before you travel

The rest is paid in installments and due in full one month before the wedding, so you arrive in Arizona with everything covered.

  6. Send your timeline one month out

Your timeline is due one month before the wedding, with times, addresses and contacts. Any changes are made in writing.

Maricopa County marriage license basics for couples from out of state

The county issues your marriage license, not your photographer, and one detail changes the trip for couples who live elsewhere. According to the Maricopa County Clerk of the Superior Court marriage license page (opens in a new tab) (checked November 7, 2026):

  • The online program is for Arizona residents only. If you live in another state or country, you apply in person.
  • There are four Clerk locations: downtown Phoenix, north Phoenix, Surprise and Mesa. Appointments are recommended, and walk-ins are accepted.
  • When you arrive for an appointment, you check in with the QR code from your confirmation, printed or on your phone.
  • Some justice and municipal courts in the county also issue licenses, but you can't book those through the Clerk's appointment page.

The license costs $98 at either option; pick the one closest to you or call before you go. Details come from the Clerk's fee schedule (opens in a new tab) and the Justice Courts wedding page (opens in a new tab), checked November 7, 2026:

Where Cost How to pay Phone
Clerk of the Superior Court, at any of its four locations$98Cash, money order or credit card(602) 372-5375
Justice courts in Gila Bend (209 E. Pima St.), Avondale (10420 W. Van Buren St.) and Chandler (201 E. Chicago St.)$98Money order only, payable to "Clerk of Superior Court"(602) 506-8530, administrative office

You both apply together, each with a valid government photo ID such as a driver's license or passport. The license is issued the same day, is good for one year and works anywhere in Arizona. If you are marrying in another Arizona county, the fee is the same; ask that county's clerk where to apply.

A planning tip: set aside a day before the wedding for the license and put it on your timeline.

Where your wedding is and what crew travel costs

There is no travel fee within 50 driving miles of Tempe, Arizona (I-10 and US-60). Farther out, we quote the full driving distance and agree on it in writing before the date.

We run six city sites: Phoenix and the West Valley, Mesa, Gilbert, Chandler, Scottsdale, and Queen Creek with San Tan Valley. If your wedding is in another Arizona city, our main contact page for all of Arizona (opens in a new tab) handles it, with travel quoted in writing. One example is Mario and Cecilia's wedding in Williams (opens in a new tab), with a session in Kaibab National Forest and a reception at the Williams Rodeo Grounds.

Planning the Pre-Event Photo Session when you live far away

Every package includes a 1-hour photo session, held at least 2 weeks before the wedding. When you live far away, that takes some planning. Many couples fit it into an earlier trip, when they come to see the venue or visit family, and use those photos for their invitations.

If you won't be in Arizona two weeks before the wedding, tell us when you check your date so we can work out the right option together. An extra session is $250.

Including family who can't travel to the wedding

When a couple lives far away, someone almost always can't make the trip. Two pieces of our packages help:

  • Online Video Streaming Experience (Complete and Deluxe Packages): anyone who couldn't travel can watch your wedding video from anywhere, on a phone or a TV.
  • Personalized Event Website (Deluxe Package): one place where everyone can go back to the photos, slideshows, Event Highlight Video and full video.

Payments, cancellations and date changes from a distance

The terms are the same whether you live in Phoenix or overseas, and they are written into the contract:

  • Deposit: $500 holds the date and counts toward your total.
  • Final payment: one month before the wedding.
  • Canceling 4 months or more ahead: you lose only the $500 deposit; it is not an extra charge.
  • Canceling less than 4 months ahead: everything paid is lost.
  • Date change: one, with 4 months' notice or more, if the new date is open.

Before you pay any photographer you have never met, read what to include in a photography and video contract.

What to send us before you travel

The more we know ahead of time, the less you have to sort out on your wedding weekend:

  1. Your timeline with the time and address of each location.
  2. Names and phone numbers for the venue and church coordinators.
  3. Your wedding family photo list, with who belongs in each group.
  4. Whether you will be getting ready in two places at once, so we can see if a second photographer makes sense.
  5. Any park or venue that charges entry or parking, since that cost is yours.

Questions about booking Arizona wedding photo and video from out of state

Can we book without meeting you in person?

Yes. You check your date by text or the form, review and sign the contract on your phone, and pay the $500 deposit as a separate step.

Can we apply for the marriage license online if we live outside Arizona?

Not in Maricopa County: the online program is for Arizona residents only. Couples from out of state apply in person at a Clerk location or at one of the three justice courts that issue licenses, and it costs $98 at any of them.

Do you charge travel for a wedding in northern Arizona?

If the venue is more than 50 driving miles from Tempe, yes: we quote the full driving distance and agree on it in writing before the date.

How long do we have to choose our photos?

Four weeks after the wedding, in the online gallery. Usual delivery, counted from your photo selection, is 4 to 8 weeks for photo and video.

Where is your wedding?

Pick your wedding city and check your date. If it's in another Arizona city, choose the last option and we'll quote travel in writing.
